Hamptons Prom Parties
June 4th, 2008

praecbnae3335omuana.jpg

It’s prom season, which means that high school kids in Manhattan are going to have their “after party” at a rented house in the Hamptons. Yeee hawww. Always fun to watch prep school kids destroy a house.  According to the New York Sun, students bring overnight bags and celebrate in the privacy of the country, often guarded by hired security officers.

The Montauk Yacht Club
April 28th, 2008

Okay, for those of you that don’t know this yet, The Montauk Yacht Club does not require a membership and is open to the public for use. Did I mention THE MONTAUK YACHT CLUB IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!

That’s right, this amazing, ridiculous, awesome, super elegant place may sound like a private club, but it isn’t, it just FEELS like a private club.

Well they invited us down there for a bite to eat with some wine, and we have to say, it was excellent. It’s a great Montauk gem, and the new management is pulling out all of the bells and whistles, so get down there and get some food, a massage, or spend the night at the hotel!

Decision Women Party At Duck Walk
April 22nd, 2008

Last Friday at Doctor and Mrs. Dan Damianos’ Duck Walk North Vineyards on the North Fork in Southold was one amazing party. The couple donated the winery space and it was hosted by Decision Women (www.decisionwomen.com), an organization that networks professional women and women business owners who raise money for charities. Clara Macri, the Chairwoman of the event, a former Wall Street success and world traveler was all smiles with Lise Poulos, the EVP and CAO of Monster.com, who was the title sponsor of the evening. Also attending were the people from the law firm Jaspan Schlesinger Hoffman LLP. Amazingly, Bay Fireworks CEO Charles Rappa donated 10,000 dollars worth of fireworks for the evening.

Decision Women that evening raised money for Long Island Cares, The Harry Chapin Food Bank, the Long Island Farm Bureau and Good Shepherd Hospice. The night featured an amazing array of cocktails, wine and food, and the good people at Buoy One Restaurant and Caterers kept the food and the raw oysters flying through the party. Check out some of the party in the video below.

Southampton Movie Theater Shut Down For The Night
August 9th, 2007

pix041.jpg

No, that’s not a movie premiere at the Southampton Movie Theater, those are firemen. It was one big dissappointment for those that wanted to see Bourne Ultimatum in Southampton last night. Some jerk pulled the fire alarm because there was a “little smell of smoke” according to people that were waiting outside. We waited for a good hour and half for the building to burn down, but apparently it was nothing. Most people were waiting for a good hour in the hopes that the Southampton Fire Department would give the all clear. Of course, slowly but surely, people just started giving up and going home, there would be no Bourne Ultimatum tonight, but it was quite a funny scene to watch the rich kids complain like a bunch of idiots. “Why can’t we watch a movie?” one said.

“Ummm, because the building is on fire,” said a cop.

It looked from the outside that there was a whole lot of nothing going on at the theater, but to be safe, the road was shut down, the movie theater closed up and a lot of people got readmission tickets.

So exciting!

Billy Or Hillary? Who Do You Love More?
August 3rd, 2007

billy_joel1.jpg18191860.jpg

They can’t be everywhere at once, which is why the jet set this weekend are going to have to choose between heading out to see Billy Joel at the Ross School, where two tickets cost $6,000, or go have dinner with Hillary and Bill Clinton at Ron Perlman’s house for $9,200.

The camp at Hillary and at Ross have both expressed concerns that one function will be taking away from the other, but getting out money from Hamptons pockets is never easy. You could always listen to Billy Joel on your i-Pod while having dinner with Bill, that might work. However, $9,200 is a little steep for dinner, $6,000 sounds like a bargain to go to a concert.

Saturday isn’t the only Hillary opportunity in the Hamptons to show some Hillary love. According to Bloomberg.com “Tonight she’ll be a guest of Irene and Bernard Schwartz, the former chairman of Loral Space & Communications Inc., who are hosting a $1,000-a-head cocktail party in Southampton. (Amazingly, the senator has a quick daytrip to Chicago on Saturday for two public events, before the Perelman dinner.)”

Flying on to Chicago on Saturday and coming back for dinner in the Hamptons is pretty pimp.

Can’t squeeze in Billy and Hillary into one day? You can catch Hillary Sunday morning in East Hampton then. Venture capitalist Alan Patricof is having a $1,000 pancake breakfast for Clinton. If you shell out 10 Gs, she’ll pose in a photo for you.

Bye the way, if you are a complete slob, with no money to your name, you can always go to that super inexpensive place Nobu to enjoy an all-inclusive $250 Nobu dinner, prepared by Nobu staff at the Ross School on the 17th and 18th with Clinton. Here’s the number for a reservation 212-757-3000.

Only in the Hamptons.

Project Greenhouse, the infamous, super eco-freindly home in East Hampton that has been recently built to prove that luxury living and being good to the environment can co-exist, along with HBO’s Entourage Star Adrian Grenier hosted the “Closing Reception” for Project GreenHouse Hamptons by having a poker game at the home to benefit Charity Water, which drills wells in Africa.

Have you been watching this season of Entourage? It is fantastic!

DonFashions Launches On The Beach
July 30th, 2007

Now that’s how you launch a clothing line. DonFashions, a new clothing line created by Montauk local and barely 18-years-old P.J. Monte, displayed his fashionable threads along with Southampton swimsuit designer Lu Berry on an outdoor runway at the private beach at Gurney’s Inn. DonFashions, which offers youthful designer clothing with an Italian-mobster twist, attracted the likes of Hampton clothing retailers and photographers. The event, sponsored by Hamptons Vodka and Hamptons Style Magazine among others, had a crowd of well over two hundred people giving a standing ovation for the two designers.

After the launch, Gurney’s redecorated its stunning conference room into a nightclub complete with models, fashionistas and plenty of alcohol. As PJ’s shirts would say, “I am the Don…Bitch”

The Ross School once again did the ultimate Hamptons concert thanks to Lizzie Grubman and her PR posse. The Dave Matthews concert had a slew of celebrities attending the show including American illusionist and stunt performer, David Blaine along with Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider, Chris Noth from “Sex and the City” and “Law and Order” and the “Soprano’s” Edie Falco and Aida Turturro made it quite the concert for celebrity lovers.

In honor of Dave’s Southern roots, Social brought in New York City chef Adam Perry Lang of Daisy Mae’s BBQ to give the guests a taste of Southern comfort. There was also a fajita station, a caffeine bar (i.e.: Nespresso) on our right and a Dylan’s Candy Bar for our sweet tooth.

What planet are we on again?

Saturday’s Baystreet Bash

This past Saturday Bay Street held their Summer Gala Benefit Bash and it was one of the summer’s most magical evenings. Set to the enchanting theme of “East meets West,” the night took place at Harding Farm on Lumber Lane in Bridgehampton. Not only does this occasion mark Bay Street’s sixteenth year of production, but it was hosted by comedian and actor, Richard Kind from hit shows Mad About You, Spin City and HBO’s hit series produced by Larry David, Curb Your Enthusiasm.
This talented actor brought his dry sense of humor to the Gala just prior to appearing opposite Charles Busch in Bay Street’s production of the hilarious satire of 1940s thrillers, The Lady in Question. It’s fair to say that the Gala will benefit from the plans for this production as well as its production of Turandot: The Rumble for the Ring - a new rock opera, jam-packed with some of the most talented arias in opera set to a rock beat, in other words, one-of-a-kind - which will be playing through August 5.
In true Bay Street style the silent and live “fantasy” auction included exciting packages such as a Princess Tea Party with Julie Andrews, dinner for 4 at Rao’s, a fantasy golf package, a luxury vacation in Mexico including airfare, a custom Italian kitchen, house seats for the opening of Mel Brook’s Broadway show Young Frankenstein, fabulous works of art by world acclaimed East Hampton artist Randy Rosenthal, jewelry, memorabilia, sports packages and much more. Not to mention a kayak trip with Alec Baldwin.
It was certainly a night to remember and many celebrities were spotted including B. Smith and Dan Gasby, and Emma Walton Hamilton among others. Not only an elegant affair but an event where all the proceeds help to keep their programs strong and supported.

I love Bay Street.
