That’s right, the biggest block buster of the year mentions East Hampton in one of the early scenes where the comic book weapons billionaire Tony Stark, the alias behind Iron Man, decides that he needs to own a Jackson Pollack from his Spring era. He is of course corrected by his assistant who tells him that it is not from his “Spring era, but is from his house in Springs which is a part of East Hampton New York.
Awww yeah! Iron Man gives a shout out to the Hamptons. We saw the movie this weekend and it is AWESOME! It’s playing in East Hampton.

Did you have any idea that the horrifyingly, American Psycho-esque thriller “Funny Games” starring Naomi Watts was filmed on Shelter Island and in Southampton? None of us here did either, but the sick movie was filmed right here. You mean to tell us Naomi Watts was running around here and we didn’t even no about it! Shame on us!
Needless to say, we are hearing some pretty good things about the movie and by good we mean bad, and by bad we mean sickening, and by sickening we mean good. It’s going on our list of Hamptons movies worth checking out though, after all, that’s Shelter Island your looking at. The movie may be creepy, but Shelter Island sure as heck isn’t. Okay maybe it is in the winter time when it is so quiet there, but the summer and spring time is radical. Naomi Watts? NAOMI WATTS? AND WE DIDN’T KNOW?
Check the trailer here, if you dare.

“A movie goer haggles for Bee Movie Tickets in East Hampton”
Seinfeld’s Bee Movie had movie goers in East Hampton going bananas over the weekend, with a line going out the door for the matinee on Sunday. Kids from all over East Hampton were “buzzing” about the new flick, while parents were secretly hoping to catch a glipse of Seinfeld himself going to the show to sneak a peek. Reviews for Bee Movie were mixed, but sales of tickets had it leading behind American Gangster over the weekend, and the movie is expected to do well through the holiday’s. Once again, Seinfeld kicks butt. With Seinfeld himself making rare appearances on nearly every media outlet, it is nice to see his face fresh on the screen instead of watching re-runs on TBS.

This sounds like it’s worth seeing, it really is an incredible story. To Die In Jerusalem, a powerful documentary by young Israeli filmmaker, Hilla Medalia, debuts in competition at the Hamptons International Film Festival on October 18 and October 20. The documentary recounts the heart-wrenching story of two teenage girls – 17-year-old Israeli student Rachel Levy, and her killer, 18-year-old Palestinian suicide bomber Ayat al-Akhras — who died together in a Jerusalem market in 2002. The horrific incident ignited international outrage and set in motion one mother’s journey to meet the mother of her daughter’s killer. More than four years later, they finally met in an emotionally charged encounter that underscores the deep roots of the Israel-Palestinian conflict.
Film debuts on HBO on November 1.

Mark Podwal is the writer and co-producer of a film which is premiering in the US at the Hampton Film Festival. The 52 minute documentary House of Life: The Old Jewish Cemetery in Prague is a collaboration of Academy Award winning filmmaker Allan Miller (From Mao to Mozart) and artist Mark Podwal whose works on Prague have been reproduced by the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The celebrated actress Claire Bloom is the film’s narrator.
Miller who has won two academy awards, has directed and produced over 35 documentary films, many shown on PBS. The screening is on Thursday Oct 18 at 12:30 PM at the UA Cinema in East Hampton.
Prague’s Old Jewish Cemetery, a place of haunting beauty and mystery, has endured wars and pogroms, floods and fires, assimilation and an urban clearing project that destroyed most of the ancient Jewish Quarter it once served. Miraculously, it even survived the Nazi occupation and forty years of Communist neglect. House of Life tells the story of the vibrant Prague Jewish community of the past and of today’s small Jewish community for whom the cemetery still serves as a spiritual center. In the film we encounter the curators, historians, rabbis, guides, conservationists, all devoted to the preservation of this unforgettable place.

Here comes the film festival. British born CG artist, Andrew McPhillips has caught the eye of the judges of both Toronto and the Hampton’s International Film Festivals.
‘Blood Will Tell’ is a provoking 3d animated horror film which World Premiered at the prestigious Toronto International before being invited to hold its U.S premier in Southampton . The six-minute short is made with a unique technique based on the Victorian “tin type” photographic process.
McPhillips is better know for his visual effects on AI : Artificial Intelligence, Minority Report, Mission Impossible II and the Academy Award nominated Shrek II and Mighty Joe Young. McPhillips is currently the Head of Lighting at LAIKA Inc.in Portland Oregon.
Blood will tell is a six minute, sci-fi horror film set in 16th Century Holland. A mysterious visitor who is hopelessly sick, attempts to hide from death in a dark, mosquito infested well. But the darkness can’t hide him, or the surrounding villages for very long … Blood will tell.
The film also caught the attention of Icelandic band Sigur Ros, who were keen to be part of the project and generously contributed their music to the score.

No, that’s not a movie premiere at the Southampton Movie Theater, those are firemen. It was one big dissappointment for those that wanted to see Bourne Ultimatum in Southampton last night. Some jerk pulled the fire alarm because there was a “little smell of smoke” according to people that were waiting outside. We waited for a good hour and half for the building to burn down, but apparently it was nothing. Most people were waiting for a good hour in the hopes that the Southampton Fire Department would give the all clear. Of course, slowly but surely, people just started giving up and going home, there would be no Bourne Ultimatum tonight, but it was quite a funny scene to watch the rich kids complain like a bunch of idiots. “Why can’t we watch a movie?” one said.
“Ummm, because the building is on fire,” said a cop.
It looked from the outside that there was a whole lot of nothing going on at the theater, but to be safe, the road was shut down, the movie theater closed up and a lot of people got readmission tickets.
So exciting!

Christie Brinkley was looking stunning at the screening of in The Shadow Of The Moon at the Southampton UA Theater last Sunday. She sure as hell makes me want to see that movie. The gorgeous model/actress/milf has been hitting the Hamptons scene and a local pilates instructor told us that she has been keeping herself in amazing shape. We are all so happy that she is. I for one am certainly glad it’s her strutting her stuff around and not what’s his name.
Kiera Chaplin (yes as in Charlie Chaplin) had a birthday party hosted by W Hotels and Belvedere Vodka at a Southampton hideaway. The actress was looking great as always. Not too sure who the blond is holding the drink coming up the stairs behind her.
P. Diddy, Puff Daddy, Sean Combs or whatever you would like to call him was all smiles as he hosted Vic Latino’s new nightclub Whitehouse in Hampton Bays. He certainly entertained the crowd from his VIP table all night long, even though he showed up at around 2 a.m. “These people paid a lot of money to get into this club, we better show them a good time!” he yelled out to the cheering crowd through a microphone. We heard that he got paid $200,000 to basically be the man for a night during the Hamptons fourth of July.

Last Saturday was the after party for “Fierce People” hosted by The Cinema Society And The Wall Street Journal at a private residence in Southampton. It was quite the Hamptons scene, with locals Kelsey Grammer and Camille Grammer along with Howard Stern and Beth Ostrosky showing their support for the movie and also their support for great Hamptons parties. The private residence also enjoyed the gorgeous presence of Heather Graham. As Bart Simpson would say, “Ay Carumba!”
