A plane overran the runway in Montauk on Saturday and crashed. Nobody thankfully was injured or killed, but there was gas leaking from the wing tanks and the Montauk Fire Department headed down to make sure that nothing caught fire. Chief Robert Gosman of the MFD ensured that the plane was maintained.
Amazing pictures.

Oh this is just nasty.
A man named Nicky Papers is reporting that another “Montauk Monster” has been found on the North Fork and it just screams fake. Not that we are ones to say reporting fake news is a bad thing
We always love a good mystery and think that its worth a look to see what you think of the new monster. Papers reports on his blog, which is of course dedicated to the “Montauk Monster” and has gained a lot of attention because he writes just about that the new monster didn’t smell so good. He writes “The beast smelled like a mix of low-tide and rotten garbage. It really smelled horrific. I couldn’t help but take numerous pictures of it and video clips.”
You be the judge and have a look at the photo of the new monster on www.montauk-monster.com. Don’t click on the link unless you want to be grossed out!

When Henry Uihlein in Montauk speaks, people listen. The owner of Uihlein’s Marina in Montauk is one of the most respected residents of the community, and according to him, the Cricket II, Frank Mundus’s famed shark fishing boat based inspiring the movie “Jaws”, should be left in Montauk as a memorial. And he’s gonna put up his own money to make it all happen.
When the famous shark hunter died last year, his boat was left in Uihlein’s yard, and an auction for it ensued. The minimum bid was $100,000, but nobody bit. This week, somebody bid $40,000. Henry Uihlein has proposed that the town board gives him a loan to buy the boat, which he personally promises to pay back for a Mundus Memorial. After all, he was only the greatest and most infamous shark fisherman on the planet.
Whether or not this will work out and keep the boat in Montauk doesn’t not seem to be clear. Either way however, Henry Uihlein has made it clear that he will not sit around and not have a memorial for Frank Mundus. If the boat gets sold at the lower price or not, he is going to do something about it.
Perhaps a big shark tank?
Watch a bio of Frank Mundus Below.

Fishermen in Montauk have been required to exchange old floating rope for new rope that sinks to help prevent whale entanglement. Commercial fishermen who do not change to sinking ground lines could face penalties or fines.
Easy solution, well executed, well done.

Dear Sir or Madame:
I read with pleasure the Montauk Pioneer article about the West Point cadets and wanted to commend you & the author for supporting the military, especially during the holidays. Montauk continues to be among my favorite places not only because of its beauty but also its deep sense of community.
Thank you.

The Tuma Agency in Montauk, a local real estate brokerage has fallen prey to the real estate melt down. Such a bummer. The store space is now for rent. Not sure who has the listing.

Okay, for those of you that don’t know this yet, The Montauk Yacht Club does not require a membership and is open to the public for use. Did I mention THE MONTAUK YACHT CLUB IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!
That’s right, this amazing, ridiculous, awesome, super elegant place may sound like a private club, but it isn’t, it just FEELS like a private club.
Well they invited us down there for a bite to eat with some wine, and we have to say, it was excellent. It’s a great Montauk gem, and the new management is pulling out all of the bells and whistles, so get down there and get some food, a massage, or spend the night at the hotel!
