Yep, we like to get dressed up on Halloween at the office here at Dan’s Paper. Above are some fully committed employees, Classified Saleswoman Kathy Bruswitz Camarata is the Pirate on the left, Creative Director Lianne Alcon is Tim Burton’s Red Queen, Classified Sales Director Lori Berger is the pirate on the right, Production Director Genevieve Salamone is the Devil on the right.
Is your office dressed up today? E-mail me a photo at david@danspapers.com and I’ll put you on the site.

Our fearless webmaster Colin Goldberg is on vacation in Hawaii. Colin’s skills are what keep this site looking as good as it does. Below is a pic of Colin holding up a recent issue of Dan’s. LOOKING GOOD COLIN! Looks like a Dan’s Papers in O’ahu should get started!

Now this is what I call a dorm room. Emily Levine decorated her dorm room with Dan’s Papers covers now that she’s back at school as a senior at Marywood University in Scranton Penn. Yes like the Scranton Penn in the television show “The Office”
Thanks for this pic! We love it!

The Skinny Girl Margarita.
If you want to be like Bethenny Frankel and want to make your own “Skinny Girl Margarita” she explains it below. Frankel was all over Montauk last week promoting her drink and her show, “The Real Housewives Of New York” where she comes across as a wonderful and charming person.

After actually hitting the Hamptons for some filming, a New York City marketing firm known as Glow Interactive has created one very addicitng video game for the Hamptons.
Hamptons Hot Spotting was made for the USA Networks television show “Royal Pains” and is one of the many marketing ploys done by USA Networks to draw in new fans and entertain old ones (Are there old ones? The show is only a few months old!).
Glow Interactive’s co-founder, Peter Levin said he had a good time coming out to Southampton to do some filming for the new video game, “It was certainly a bonus to head out to the Hamptons for the project.”
We would imagine it to be too.
The new game is hysterical and very well done, our hat is off to Glow Interactive for the game. I still haven’t beaten it yet.

We love the show, “It’s a Big Big World” which is filmed at the Wainscott Studios and is owned by partners Mitchell Kriegman (the guy who came up with “Clarissa Explains it All) as well as Enclave Inn owner Michael Wudyka. The two had their favorite charachter, “Snook the Sloth” roam around the Hamptons saying hello. Have a look at the pic of Snook and State Assemblyman Fred Thiele below.
Becoming more and more popular with Hollywood, Mitchell and Micheal were among the first, if not the first visionaires for a full all out movie studio in the Hamptons. Check out Wainscott Studios.
Here’s our favorite video clip of Mitchell.

You’ll have to be the judge.
This video was taken on the beach in Montauk, New York on July 4th, 2009 around 9 pm. The beach was packed awaiting the big firework show when this orange light was seen.

It is my personal belief that the second part/episode of a trilogy/series tends to be a let-down: I think the second Harry Potter is the worst of the seven, Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back is in my mind far inferior to the other two originals, et cetera. I was willing to attribute my “Sophomore Slump” theory to Royal Pains last week when I was disappointed by the second episode, and so I was waiting impatiently to prove myself right because a)I thought I might be onto something thesis-worthy and b)I really wanted to like it.
But I kind of thought it was a little lame again. To be honest, I actually kept falling asleep during the show last night (don’t worry, I’ve caught up..) Firstly the opening scene with the dog-walker… really? reeeallly? Just me or a little contrived? And the “get me a towel and something sharp”-type lines are getting slightly repetitive and even less credible (but that’s probably just me.)
But then again, parts of it were still cool. Seeing all of the sites we’re so used to passing by all the time hasn’t really got old yet, at least not for me. And not everything is that far-fetched: the whole not-noticing-a-deer-tick-until-you’re-half-paralysed-thing is totally feasable out here.
I really, really want to like this show. I’m thinking/hoping maybe they just need a couple of episodes to get the hang of things and that they’ll come back and knock us off our feet some Thursday soon..
Anyway, if you missed last night’s episode, here it is:
(By the way, is it just me or are is these maybe the strangest opening titles ever??)
