Now that’s how you launch a clothing line. DonFashions, a new clothing line created by Montauk local and barely 18-years-old P.J. Monte, displayed his fashionable threads along with Southampton swimsuit designer Lu Berry on an outdoor runway at the private beach at Gurney’s Inn. DonFashions, which offers youthful designer clothing with an Italian-mobster twist, attracted the likes of Hampton clothing retailers and photographers. The event, sponsored by Hamptons Vodka and Hamptons Style Magazine among others, had a crowd of well over two hundred people giving a standing ovation for the two designers.
After the launch, Gurney’s redecorated its stunning conference room into a nightclub complete with models, fashionistas and plenty of alcohol. As PJ’s shirts would say, “I am the Don…Bitch”

Everyone’s favorite place for a fashion splurge, Blue & Cream, has finally listened to its huge Hamptons following, and committed to a spot in the city. Nothing will ever compare to the store’s East Hampton hipness, but the Lower East Side location is a good first start. Here’s hoping our press discounts apply to First Avenue too!

I often wonder about Hamptons stores that “opt” to launch in August. Were they not ready in time for Memorial Day, the beginning of the season? Or did they strategically hold off until the end of the summer, when everyone is sick and tired of the same old stuff? Chances are, something went wrong, someone got fired and there’s a reason these big launches are a little late in the game. Well, no harm done. Everyone is excited about a few things coming our way in August. Dylan’s Candy Bar opens in East Hampton on August 4th. Just when you got your summer bod into shape, right?! Elie Tahari welcomes customers to his new location (across the street from the old one) on Aug 12th, and they’re hiring! Radu launches The White Spa, specializing in facials and massages. And guess what? They’re hiring too!

Sure it’s smack-dab in the middle of the week, but that doesn’t mean there’s not enough to do on The Fourth of July this year!
Start by grabbing yourself at new bikini at Lu-Berry in Watermill. Her one of a kind suits are as sexy as the Columbian owner herself. If you’re not feeling bikini-ready, buy yourself one of her $20 cuff bracelets. Tres chic!
Or better yet, get your you-know-what over to Soul-Cycle, where Carey Lowell, Richard Gere’s wife, was working out this morning!
Dinner reservations won’t be pretty, so have a big lunch at Bay Burger, which is getting amazing applause from the boys at The Beach.
Don’t forget to pick your kids up at The Ross School Camp, which opened its doors to the luckiest kids ever this week.
End the night with a bang in Montauk. 9pm. You bring the wine, I’ll bring the cherries. Where else would you want to be!

While certain groups of friends (ahem) prefer talking about undressing in the Hamptons - according to Jeff Slonim, there’s a handful of beach fashionistas, who enjoy discussing how to dress out East, from dunes to dinners.
Let’s pretend Jeff asked me.
“Comfort is the only way to look cool during the day. The more broken-in the t-shirt, the better your life with be. Soft, uncomplicated bottoms like cashmere sweats, army shorts, leggings and cotton skirts will complete your wardrobe. As much as I love perfect-fitting jeans, even denim feels too fussy.
Give yourself a chance to feel sexier at night. Heels are pushing it. I like to go with cotton dresses that fall off the shoulder. Or, vintage pieces that are loose but dangerously short. Tight is tacky, so unless you hate your legs, so reveal your inner-party girl by taking your favorite things up a few inches.”
God I love interviewing myself.

Who says the fashion industry is cold? Ralph Lauren invited 18 fashion editors on a fun-loving press junket out East, which sounds more like recess than work! Check it out…..
In other A-list news, Natalie Portman is packing up and moving out. The New York Post is reporting that Portman has put her Sea Cliff digs on the market, at a rather steep price. Real estate experts say she’s living not in the Northfork, but in la-la land, if she thinks the house is worth 2.2 million. Don’t underestimate the power of saying, “Natalie Portman lived here!” Afterall, she’s one of the only starlets known for good taste.
