The Hamptons bars and restaurants enjoyed packed houses all weekend long as the masses from the city and from college headed out back to their Hamptons homes to enjoy family and friends. One such place that was packed was the Stephen Talkhouse, which had the popular local band Booga Sugar keeping the dance floor busy. Retailers also reported strong sales as well locally, with stores like LF hosting DJ Biggie and enjoying increased sales from a company party.

Who says rock shows have to cost $3,000 a pop? Tim Dalene of NRO (No Real Organization) and Telemark Builders in Bridgehampton and pals have finished the completion of their half pipe which will be at the music and art event known throughout town as CHIAROSCURO (click here for date and time). Don’t ask us how to pronounce it.
Judging by these pictures, it should be pretty radical. Among the bands playing will be The Isles, Tequila Mockingbird, Kiss Kiss, Consent of Kings, Bastards of Boom, Jet Jaguar, Blue Jackets, Hot Lips Houlihan and Igniter. All this will happen this Saturday at East Hampton Studios. Rock on.

The Ross School once again did the ultimate Hamptons concert thanks to Lizzie Grubman and her PR posse. The Dave Matthews concert had a slew of celebrities attending the show including American illusionist and stunt performer, David Blaine along with Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider, Chris Noth from “Sex and the City” and “Law and Order” and the “Soprano’s” Edie Falco and Aida Turturro made it quite the concert for celebrity lovers.
In honor of Dave’s Southern roots, Social brought in New York City chef Adam Perry Lang of Daisy Mae’s BBQ to give the guests a taste of Southern comfort. There was also a fajita station, a caffeine bar (i.e.: Nespresso) on our right and a Dylan’s Candy Bar for our sweet tooth.
What planet are we on again?

I was one of the lucky ones on Friday. We scored some tickets to see Pink Martini at the West Hampton Beach Performing Arts Center and got the opportunity to head back stage for a quick interview. Check out China Forbes talk about what she likes about West Hampton.
What a show China Forbes and her band puts on. No wonder they are in the top 40 on the billboards. This 13 piece group plays songs in a variety of different romance languages like Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and French. It was pretty neat to see this group in person after their recent performance on the David Letterman show. No wonder the WHBAC was completely sold out.

The Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett had local phenom Telly play at their Industry Party last Tuesday night. But the usual solo man, who is known for his crystal clear voice and stage presence, was not alone on the famous stage, which has felt the feet of musicians like Jimmy Buffett and the Toots.
Telly has teamed up with Gabriel Rattiner, the Berkley trained guitarist, along with drummer David Berg, and managed to put on one hell of a show. By the end of the night, the group had the entire Talkhouse out on the dance floor.
But what’s the name of this new group? There is no official word, as they are still working on it, since they just got together only a week ago. However, the chalkboard at the Talkhouse was calling them Free Candy. Always nice to see a great local band hit the scene.
FYI the Toots And The Maytals are playing at the Talkhouse this weekend. You don’t want to miss this reggae group. I know, my blood pressure just dropped too. Enjoy the weekend.

Who are the Blue Jackets? They are a really good band that play out in the Hamptons every once in a while. But what stands them out from the rest are not just their good tunes and their fans, but the fact that local and national celebrity actor, producer,
director, model and generally really cool guy Edward Burns plays guitar for the band.
The band rocks, you can listen to some of their jams at their myspace page, http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=65902500
Check ‘em out!

The Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett had a band last week called “Evolution” play live. The band is a “Journey” Tribute band and in front of a nearly packed Stephen Talkhouse, they belted out famous hits such “Don’t Stop Believing” and “Only The Young.”
Myself and a couple of friends from the paper headed down to see if these guys could pull off what so many of us have tried at a shameless karaoke night out at Almondito in East Hampton. The lead singer of the band, known as Hugo had a voice that matched original “Journey” lead singer Steve Perry pretty perfectly. The bassist also had this wild bass
Hugo of “Evolution”
guitar that had flashing lights running up and down the neck. Needless to say, we were all taking taxi cabs home that night. The Talkhouse usually has a good lineup of bands and “Evolution” is one of them.
It was a great scene, but it was hard not to notice the unusually large hole in the lead singers blue jeans. Was it intentional? I have no idea. Maybe it’s just one of those rock star secrets.
