Sex and the Coopers Beach!
September 25th, 2009

It was all about Sex and the City 2 this morning.

In an effort for the movie industry to make more money on the Sex and the City brand and to get more parents to bring their 13-year-old daughters to theaters to watch soft core porn, movie makers opened up shot at Coopers Beach in Southampton to film Sex and City 2.

I got a call that they were going to be shooting some of the movie down at Coopers Beach in Southampton and headed down there. I was pretty excited, but all that happened was a bunch of extras showed up on a bus. There was some other press there, and we learned pretty quickly that they were shooting the main characters in a private residence. Oddly there was a flat bed truck at Coopers with a few Mercedes Benz cars piled in the back. Car chase scene on the beach? Doubtful. Nobody was saying anything, not even the truck driver, as to which house was filming. Movie people are so secretive. Don’t they get that everybody is a celebrity in the Hamptons! We’re not impressed!

Saving WLIU, NPR
September 24th, 2009

Alec Baldwin, and Jann Wenner are among the big name people who are making efforts to keep National Public Radio alive and well in Southampton at WLIU radio. The station, which is being sold, has many prominent names in the area concerned.

In fact, a charity fund has been set up that you can donate to to keep the radio station alive.

The amount of public support has been large, but it may not be large enough, and there is talk that the top bidder for the radio station may not be the best bidder. People are fearing that the top bidder could be a group that wants the station shut down for its liberal viewpoints and shows.

The Associated Press has reported that Porter Bibb, an investment banker that specializes in media and is working as a volunteer advisor to save the station said, “A well-financed religious broadcaster with reputations for buying out financially strapped public radio stations may swamp other bidders, because the religious stations simulcast the same programming on hundreds of stations, they could keep their overhead low.”

A lot of people care about this radio station and I love getting my dish of Bonnie Grice in the morning, so click on the charity link and send some money!

Plane Crash In Montauk
September 21st, 2009

uynukuni2345o61w1n1.jpeg

A plane overran the runway in Montauk on Saturday and crashed. Nobody thankfully was injured or killed, but there was gas leaking from the wing tanks and the Montauk Fire Department headed down to make sure that nothing caught fire. Chief Robert Gosman of the MFD ensured that the plane was maintained.

Amazing pictures.

Let The Dogs Run Free!
September 17th, 2009

The East Hampton Town Board is in a bit of bind these days, but one issue that has got a lot of people barking is the issue of the Springs Dog Park. The park, (which is awesome), is literally a giant field in Springs that dogs can run free at. The Department of Land Management is working out a plan for the 42-acre park that will allow only half of the park to operate for dogs without leashes.

Among the issues being discussed is the concern that somebody might get bit by a dog and it would be a liability to the Town. Ummmmmmmmmm, it’s a freaking dog park. That’s like saying there is concern about a car accident in a Town owned parking lot. THE OWNER OF THE DOG WOULD GET SUED IF THAT HAPPENED NOT THE TOWN! I’m not a lawyer but I know that much.

Another issue was that the park needed to be a place that was encouraging to all people, not just for dog walkers. Ummmmm, okay I’m missing this once again I think because last time I checked it’s a freaking dog park. It’s called a dog park. It is a place to bring your dog. What the heck else would you do there? Walk your cat?

Keep barking folks to keep this dog park in good hands and so that it doesn’t get turned into anything else except A DOG PARK THAT IS AWESOME.

RUFFF!

WSJ Gets It Wrong
September 17th, 2009

The WSJ reported that Madoff’s house was sold in Montauk. However Joan Hegner just told me that it is is officially “not sold” and that it is “in contract.”

In contract means that an offer has been made and it was accepted but the closing still hasn’t happened yet.

Madoff’s oceanfront estate in Montauk is sold. The Wall Street Journal says

If you still haven’t seen this video of my tour of the property, have a look!
