Guess what folks, you know how East Hampton is in dire financial straits due to the government there? Well the same is true for Southampton. Supervisor Linda Kabot is threatening higher taxes in 2010 after giving a major address to the public. Kabot is stressing to the public that it was previous financial Town Boards that ignored the growing financial problem within the Town of Southampton.
Supervisor McGintee of East Hampton was forced to beat the same drum, but took money out of the community preservation fund in East Hampton to pay bills, which has been deemed illegal.
Southampton is projecting a 2 million dollar short fall in mortgage tax revenues.
