Does anybody know what the heck this thing is that washed ashore in Montauk? The “CREATURE” has made the papers! We got this in an e-mail this morning!
“My sister emailed me a picture of some strange looking animal that supposedly washed up on the beach in montauk. Rumor has it that it came from plum island…
As soon as i saw the picture i was immediately fascinated because ive never seen anything like it in my life and wanted to know more about it, but no one seems to know anything. i thought at first it could have been a photoshopped picture but you can actually see a fly on its back. I searched all over the internet and the papers and didn’t find anything except some surfer message board that posted the same picture and some guy said it was a “plataweisel” but upon further investigation i realized the guy was trying to be funny and copied and pasted the description of a bottle nosed dolphin changing the name to “plataweisel”. i dont believe there is any such thing. Some other guy on the same message board had this to say:
“listen guys I heard some inside (privileged) information from the EH Police Dept. The animal carcass was found on the North Bar. This particular animal has been known to attack surfers, as it usually feeds on seals. This animal is not indigenous to these waters, so it must have been transplanted. There is a very short list of suspects, but the investigation is still in the “young” stages.”
what the hell does that mean? what suspects? and he just said, “the animal” WHAT ANIMAL? WHAT IS IT?!!
I just find it odd that no one seems to know anything and the fact that it wasn’t in any paper has just got me baffled. I grew up in the hamptons and i know they dont like to put stuff like that in the papers because they dont want to scare the tourists off but I just want to know what this thing is!! Someone said a raccoon but i compared a picture of a raccoon skull to the photo and it wasn’t even close. I thought it looked a little bit like a turtle without the shell but i have no photos of that to compare it to. In any case, i thought it was intriguing enough to send to you guys. I would be greatly appreciative of any insight you may have :D”

Say goodbye to the Starbucks in Southampton! A recent decision to close 600 stores across the United States includes our little Starbucks in Southampton.
So if you need your espresso fix, you better start bulking up at home. That poor building in Southampton just can’t figure it out. Before that, it was the Greasy Spoon that closed and before that it was Chock Full O’ Nuts that closed. What would work in that store?

When locals get mad, they gather and get involved. East Hampton residents who gathered at The American Legion Hall in Amagansett for an hour and half to voice their complaints about problems occuring in the town. Highlights were complaints about Eli’s Manhattan to operate the Amagansett Farmers Market, over crowing in home rentals, and the McGintee Administration.
Go East Hampton Go!!! The more of this kind of thing the better.

You may have missed it, but Senator John McCain hit the Hamptons in Water Mill and Wainscott to do some fundraising at a $2,300 per person cocktail reception. Mr. McCain was met with a few protestors that lined the streets, but nothing got out of hand thankfully.
Talk about a fancy evening. If you wanted to attend both the dinner and the cocktail reception you shelled out, and this is not a joke, $28,500 per plate.

If you saw a gorilla like this one running around in East Hampton last Saturday, you don’t have to worry too much. That was just the latest promotion that the “Artist Secret Society” next to Fierro’s pizza did to get some attention to thier artists venue. Anything that is a secret society that needs a gorillia running around to promote it isn’t exactly a secret now is it?
Either way, we get it and we think that the place is great. THE MORE SUPPORT FOR ARTISTS THE BETTER!
