How can we not put this up on our website? Glad you had a great time Dorothy and fam! -Ed.

Dear danshamptons.com,
My adult children take their own holidays away these days. This time last year I floated the offer of a week long break, together, anywhere out of the UK. The initial surprize soon gained momentum and quickly led to husband, daughter (29) and son (23) simultaneously and unanimously chosing New York, New York. Manhattan to be precise.
After hunting down some of the most sensational Manhattan abodes, and with only three weeks to lift-off, ‘The Hamptons’ entered the equation. We would need somewhere to ‘recover’ before flying back direct to Liverpool, England. I spent nearly the whole of the next three weeks on the internet searching for somewhere to stay in the Hamptons, for only three nights in July, not too far from JFK and not too close either.
Ordinary hotels en route, were full for those dates. I had almost given up. Our local Borders shop could not even supply a travel map including Long Island and the Hamptons. It was looking seriously like seven nights in Times Square until I stumbled across Dan’s -web-Pages around 2 am the week before leaving. A female reporter appeared in a video clip describing her favourite place in the Hamptons. It took a lot of searching through the website but thanks to Dan’s Pages carrying advertisements right through the Hamptons we were declared ‘in’ for our three nights at Westhampton.
Another lovely surprise straight from your pages was the Sunset Cafe at Westhampton, and in particular the friendly and helpful welcome we got from Gabrielle when we arrived new in town almost straight from Dan’s Pages. Three very happy days ensued before we re-emerged towards JFK and our Liverpool home replenished and well cared for.
Just a little thank you note!

Five dollar gas could be coming to the Hamptons folks. Just what the heck are you doing about it? Well, you can get a Smart Car in Smithtown or you can get an air car. What’s an air car? Look at this video below, it blew us here here away, hehe.

Newsday Published an entire chapter from Dan Rattiner’s book “In The Hamptons”
Without a doubt, this is the greatest book that has ever been written EVER!
From “In The Hamptons” By Dan Rattiner
The East Hampton Cinema on Main Street is where the world-class filmmakers who live here hold movie premieres.
I can think of at least a dozen films that have been introduced here, where they have rolled out the red carpet, put up the felt ropes, and positioned the paparazzi alongside to shoot the stars as they come in. But whenever I pass this theater, what I remember most is the very first premiere ever held here.
As it happens, it was not only the first one but also the biggest and most successful one. The film is still among the 10 highest-grossing movies

“Finally, in the Hamptons!!…” PhotoOp Studios was developed to accommodate the distinctive needs of photographers, ad agencies, film production companies and designers. We look forward to being a necessity and resource for the Hampton’s industry professionals. PhotoOp is well suited for all “productionistas” and your events that require an exclusive and purpose built studio environment, rather than an ill suited private location, a motor home or office rental.

Here is a shot by Kathy Rae of the amazing storm that took place Sunday that nearly had the whole East End turn upside down. The storm lasted about a half hour, but it was one heck of a half hour!
Check out the lightening! This photo was taken on Dune Road. Where were you during the storm?
