Despite fears that high gas prices and a struggling economy would limit the number of visitors to the Hamptons last weekend, business flourished and record sales were reported to the great relief of many local business owners. This is a promising start to the summer and beach season on Eastern Long Island. Of course, this is a good thing for the local economy, but a nightmare in terms of reservations on a Saturday night.

Oh you pesky politicians. Come on now.
Westhampton Beach Deputy Mayor Jim Kametler is getting some heat because he has been running an illegal bed and breakfast for the past couple of years. What a scandal! Illegally renting out your home almost never happens out here!
The Mayor was suppossed to pay for a permit that costs about $100 and to also comply with village code requirements. But how was he suppossed to know that? It’s not like he’s the…okay well you know what I mean.

These guys at Broadwater just don’t get that you can’t build a super tanker in the middle of Long Island Sound. They just asked for an extra 30 days to appeal the decision by our govenor.
Take a hint Broadwater and get out of here!
Broadwater Energy, continuing its battle to place a liquefied natural gas barge in Long Island Sound, has asked for more time to prepare an appeal to the U.S. Commerce Department that was to have been filed Monday of New York State’s rejection of the project.

From Surfline.com
Surfing is not swimming. At least that is what the East Hampton (NY) Town Justice Court decided recently after eight surfers beat charges of violating a section of the State of New York Official Compilation of Codes, Rules, and Regulations, while surfing on the north side of Montauk Point, known as the North Bar.
The statute prohibits “swimming, diving, bathing, or wading in swimming pools or other waters or walking upon the frozen surface thereof” on state park property and when Kenneth Angiulo, Brian Luckey, Paul Biedrzycki, Christopher Greene, William Lucey, Brad McGill, David Providenti, and Jeffrey Pressman paddled out for a surf on August 25th an officer charged them with the violation.
