It was one exciting night at the Rainbow Room in New York City where the heads of East Hampton’s Guild Hall presented Mel Brooks, Angela LaGreca, Joe Pintauro, David Salle, and Robert F.X. Sillerman with lifetime achievement awards. The party was a smashing success, with Alec Baldwin and Mercedes Ruehl saying hello to everyone amidst the art decco styled Rainbow Room. Mel Brooks, looking better then ever, gave an acceptance speech that had the audience nearly falling over from laughing so hard. Second in line for best speech was Robert F.X. Sillerman, who joked about how the main reason he had won his award was because him and Mel Brooks work together with Young Frankenstein. “You can call Mel directly at 1-800-Mel-Brooks, he answers every call,” said Sillerman, the guy who pretty much owns all of the rights to American Idol, Elvis and Mohammad Ali, and has donated millions to the revamping of Guild Hall.
All of us here are just can’t wait to see the new rennovations done courtesy of East Hampton builder Ben Krupinski, who donated over a million dollars worth of construction to revamping the theatre.
