Howard Stern’s Wedding
March 26th, 2008

Tricky, tricky, tricky. We can’t figure out if Howard Stern is gonna get married in the Hamptons or if he is gonna do it in Manhattan. Now we’re guessing it’s all just lies and he is gonna get married in Jersey. Anyway, the man who turned talking dirty on the radio into millions of dollars is marrying Beth Ostrowsky. Howard and Beth are like peas and carrots. Well we really should say that they are like tuna tar tar and lobster bisque.

According to mediabistro.com

The so-called King of All Media, Howard Stern, whose Sirius satellite radio program revels in all things libertine, is planning on a low-key Hamptons wedding. Stern, who has been engaged for a year with model Beth Ostrowsky, has said in the past that he admired…

Police For Montauk St. Patty’s Day Say, “No Rowdiness!”
March 20th, 2008

irish-drunk-lg.gif

If you think you are gonna take a train to Montauk for St. Patty’s day and “brown bag it”, think again.

The police forces from all of the towns to the west and the Long Island Rail Road are going to be on extra alert for anybody who is heading to Montauk and is drinking on the train. Expect to get asked to throw out your booze, or worse, get thrown off the train or handcuffed. The Friends of Erin in Montauk and the East Hampton Town Police Department are taking extra care this year to make the St. Patty’s Day parade more of a family affair then it already is.

This is all fine and good, just as long as they don’t stop me from getting a beer at Shagwong’s, or The Point, or Memory, or O’Murphy’s, or… where the hell am I?

See you at the parade March 30! Details of it are here. Happy St. Patty’s Day everyone!

Tiger Woods? Nah
March 18th, 2008

Dan’s Papers isn’t the only paper that likes to make up stories. The rumor that Tiger Woods is moving to Southampton is not true, but even Dan here has to agree that it made for one heck of a story. For about one day, much of the country got word that Tiger Woods bought a $65 million estate thanks to a blurb about it in the New York Post. Our office here was getting calls from Connecticut radio stations to confirm, and most of us here just said huh?

Turns out that the blurb was a mistake, reps from Tiger Woods made a public statement that Tiger is not buying the home and they have no idea where the information in the Post came from.
In other news about celebrities who own homes in the Hamptons that are turning out false, P. Diddy made headlines today about an L.A. Times article portraying him being involved with the murder of Tu-pac.
CNN.com reported:

Sean “Diddy” Combs has denied a report by the Los Angeles Times that his associates were responsible for the 1994 robbery and shooting of Tupac Shakur at a New York recording studio, and that he knew about the attack in advance. “The story is a lie,” the hip-hop mogul said in a statement Monday. “It is beyond ridiculous and completely false.

Hey! Dan’s Papers is suppossed to be the news outlet that delivers the occasional whopper, get out of our rice bowl!

By the way, the Hampton Subway construction is going really well ;)

Former FBI Agent Discloses Mick Jagger “Hit”
March 14th, 2008

“You Can’t Always Get What You Want” when you’re a Hell’s Angel in 1969. Our Montauk’s Memory Motel and Andy Warhol Estate hero, Mick Jagger, is the subject of a BBC radio documentary about a hit on his life that was avoided on Long Island thanks to storm. A former FBI agent told the BBC, “They were going to kill him in retribution for his firing their security forces.”

According to reports, everything was set to go and the Hell’s Angels hit men loaded up a boat with guns and set out on the Long Island Sound back in 1969. Unfortunately for them however, a storm cap sized thier boat, leaving the men to dodge death themselves. What a different world we’d all be in if that storm didn’t come in. Was it “Sympathy for the Devil” who knows? We’re just glad it’s “All Over Now”

It’s gorgeous in Bridgehampton right now, enjoy the wet weekend!

See You At The States Fellas
March 13th, 2008

It’s official. The East Hampton High School boy’s basketball team are the best on Long Island. Way to go fellas. That’s a tough thing to pull off.

In front of 2,500 people at the Old Westbury arena, the Bonackers showed what they were made of. With Mike Russell, Jerome Russell, Hayden Ward, Marcus Edwards and the rest of the crew putting in everything they had, and coach Ed Petrie, their coach since they were all freshmen, supporting them, the team turned their dream into a reality.

Guild Hall, Mel Brooks, Lifetime Achievement
March 5th, 2008

It was one exciting night at the Rainbow Room in New York City where the heads of East Hampton’s Guild Hall presented Mel Brooks, Angela LaGreca, Joe Pintauro, David Salle, and Robert F.X. Sillerman with lifetime achievement awards. The party was a smashing success, with Alec Baldwin and Mercedes Ruehl saying hello to everyone amidst the art decco styled Rainbow Room. Mel Brooks, looking better then ever, gave an acceptance speech that had the audience nearly falling over from laughing so hard. Second in line for best speech was Robert F.X. Sillerman, who joked about how the main reason he had won his award was because him and Mel Brooks work together with Young Frankenstein. “You can call Mel directly at 1-800-Mel-Brooks, he answers every call,” said Sillerman, the guy who pretty much owns all of the rights to American Idol, Elvis and Mohammad Ali, and has donated millions to the revamping of Guild Hall.

All of us here are just can’t wait to see the new rennovations done courtesy of East Hampton builder Ben Krupinski, who donated over a million dollars worth of construction to revamping the theatre.

New Writer, Lenz Winery, Love It
March 4th, 2008

Jean Marie Pierson

There is a new writer for the East End and her name is Jean Marie Pierson. The launch of her new novel, No Good Girls has been a wonderful success. The North Fork Native and Manhatanite had a book party last Saturday at a packed and beautiful Lenz Winery. No Good Girls is a charming and hysterical book about a young single woman living in Manhattan. The wine at Lenz was wonderful and the vibe couldn’t have been any better for Jean and her book. Every copy brought to the event was sold. Looks like No Good Girls author is a super good writer! Congrats!
