Austrailian Commentary
January 8th, 2008

Barry Everingham  wrote this a few days ago for an Austrailian newspaper on the Hamptons.

A friend called and said to me if I wasn’t doing anything that weekend to get a seat on “the Jitney” — the coach from NY to the Hamptons - and come and stay.

“There’s a party at Marty Richards’ house, which we can go to, and it should be fun.”

Marty Richards? He’s the Broadway impresario of The Producers, former husband of one of the Johnson and Johnson heiresses. Very rich, very famous and very lots of other things. I couldn’t wait.

All the talk that night was of Diana.

At Marty’s mansion - huge, tasteful, twice the size of the biggest house in Toorak - word got around that the Australian guy had met Diana.

Maybe that’s why at lunch I was seated with Ricky and Kathy Hilton, parents of three boys and two girls, one of whom, of course, is Paris, named after one of her great-grandfather’s hotels in the French capital.

get-attachment-1aspx.jpeg

Where are the architect and photography junkies going January 14? At the Photographers East monthly meeting of course!

Speaker will be Stephen Longmire, whose recent book “Keeping Time in Sag Harbor” formed the basis for an exhibition at the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum this past summer. Longmire, a North Haven resident, undertook a three-year photographic survey of the village’s historic architecture.

7:00 PM at the Bridgehampton National Bank , Snake Hollow Rd, Bridgehampton.
Call 631-725-0202 email: jmorse@optonline.net

If somebody tells you their name is Art Vandaly and their an architect, don’t believe them.

Congrats On The Bagel Baby!
January 3rd, 2008

img003.jpg

We stopped in for a bagel this morning at Hampton Bagels in East Hampton and saw one very happy Grandfather. Owner Bob Schepps is a very happy man. His daughter and co-worker, Michaal (that is the correct spelling) is the proud motherof a 6 lb 7 oz baby boy named Gabriel Robert Di Francesco. Michaal is doing quite well according to the sign Bob put up in the shop and it seems that the future of the bagel business looks bright.

That’s a good thing too. I don’t know where I’d be if I couldn’t get a toasted spinach everything with vegetable cream cheese and tomato and a hot cup of coffee in the morning.

CONGRATULATIONS!
