From Jimmy Minardi of Minardi Training in East Hampton

On Wednesday, December 5th the Minardi Beach Cam was cut down by criminal/vandal. This cowardly act was carried out with a chain saw or a cordless saws-all between the hours of 5pm and 6am. East Hampton Village Police and detective’s are taking this very seriously, the crime is a 3-count felony. The cam was receiving a overwhelming positive response with over 6 to 7 thousand hits a day from around the world. Moreover the cam was in the process of providing oceanographers and universities with valuable beach erosion information, effects of global warming. and sand migration studies. Also the cam was going to provided weather and ocean conditions for NOAA and EHV Ocean Rescue. This is a tremendous loss to our community and those who just enjoyed looking at the most beautiful beaches in the world .
Please contact EHV Detective Scott Aldrich at 631-324-1026 or detectivealdrich@gmail.com or you can call me personally at 631-680-30o0 or email jminardi@mac.com ALL leads and info are guaranteed to remain anonymous.
The cam project was well over 8 thousand dollars and Im already working on replacing it, with even a better system as soon as
I can obtain the funds. If anyone is interested in contributing to the replacement of the cam please let me know.

Best Vibe Jimmy Minardi

“Valuable beach erosion information” you have got to be kidding me. This cam was a menace and whoever took it down did a public service. Putting it up in the first place was the crime.

  2. Peter Says:

I guess not all surfers are very bright .. tell peter he should look into a anger management cam

  3. Terry LiVolsi Says:

Peter, I would like to know how the cam was a menace? To you ? To the public?
I am sorry to break the news to you, but you no longer live in the sleepy little hamlet you may be used too. Where right after Labor day the waves and beach are all yours and only yours to enjoy. Those days were over a LONG time ago. I don’t see you guys getting this bent out of shape when all the NYcity folk drive around with their new surf boards on the hood of their least porsches, quickly getting “wet suited up” to catch NO WAVES…but looking Uber cool doing so! Where are you then making your snide remarks?
Web-cams grace ALL the coastal areas. WORLD WIDE. They are also at events…Like Bike week Daytona, Bike week Sturgis, etc..
My issue is with all the bad attitude and completely negative, nasty, angry vibe. I would never expect this sort of thinking from people who claim to commune with nature and who embrace the energetic flow of water.
    How sad.
If you surf with this anger.
    You might drown.

  4. Goodmango Says:

I,m still pissed about the cam coming down the way it did. I’ve surfed with these same guys in the water…..Yuck! Let me get this slimy shit off me. Good thing I had my wetsuit on. Hey YOU with the saw… come a little bit closer to this page so I can look in your eyes and then slap ya one time. You think for a minute this is easy to not take personally? Sure you would have done it to any body. But you’re stompin’ on not just anybody here. In this world, the wonderful truth is Jimmy Minardi thrives on positive vibe. Shares it, teaches it and inspires it. Sorry saw dude. Jimmy’s also got a lot of friends that support new creations. You just inspired us. One other thing saw dude….If you don’t have fins, gills, scales or a hole on the top of your head to breathe through, YOU’RE NOT LOCAL!

  5. peter Says:

Simply put, the camera allowed people who might not have known Georgica was working to easily check it — and race over to get some for themselves. If you want more people sitting on the one or two peaks, then the cam is the way to go. Jimmy is in it for the money. Anyone who buys that positive vibe business has no clue which way is up. Sorry.

  6. Mark Says:

    peter, you are a dick.

  7. peter Says:

Hey Mark, I hear Shelter Island is going off, bro!

  8. Terry LiVolsi Says:

    YO PEDRO DUDE….
    You sound like a suspect!

    Like Georgica’s a BIG secret…?

What bout sharing Peter? You don’t like to share?

I agree with Mark. You are Prick-like.

  9. Goodmango Says:

Ya’ll don’t get it do ya?!!! The cam is not the problem here. It’s the way it was taken off line!!!! Jimmy is entitled to make money any legal way he chooses. The criminal act of course is what this is about. Your righteous indignation about who can surf at Georgica has nothing to do with reality this time of high tech. Ever check the wave cam anywhere else but your own back yard and appreciate it? Cut down a way a person can make a little money…. that is WRONG dude. Don”t change the subject. Saw dude, wake up, you f^^ked up in your brother’s backyard.

  10. Terry LiVolsi Says:

    Oh…and Peter?
Jimmy wasn’t making any money on the Cam. If you advertised, he was only trying to recupe the money he originally laid out.
However,Many may have convinced him that the next cam should be…NO ACCESS unless you pay to enter.
Websites created…should make money for you.
So please Pedro, make sure you do your research PRIOR to getting those pudgy little fingers of yours into action.

  11. Peter Says:

yo peter Georgica is a big secret don’t tell anybody ok please…. you are a retard or stuck in the 70’s go back to your internet porn dude

  12. peter Says:

Nice thoughts, folks, but here’s the deal: having done this myself, you are sitting at home on your ass, and think, oh, I’ll check Jimmy’s cam. Fuckin-a! Georgica’s roping! You get in your car and 25 people from all over the island are jumping on it because they just did the same thing. Having the cam makes it that much easier to check the break and guarantees more people on any decent swell. This is not a big deal at a lousy break like ditch which can handle a hundred loggers, but at georgica, 10 can be a crowd.

As to Jimmy, he’s in business, but promoting his business by crapping on something others enjoy, like a relatively uncrowded surf break, is simply wrong. Just cause you can put up a cam doesn’t mean you should.

You can pick apart what I say as much as you want, but Georgica has been getting more crowded. Is the cam responsible for this? I’d argue that it is at least partially.

Oh, and which one of you responders are actually Jimmy????

  13. Peter Says:

“relatively uncrowded surf break” got drugs much ??? Between june and september when the jettie breaks its been packed for the last 10 years !!! and thats before cams peter ..cams dont matter any more the crowd is here to stay

  14. peter Says:

Look, Jimmy, how about you leave the cam down for a year and we’ll find out?

  15. Dora Says:

All this pathos over a half-assed beach break that can’t handle a swell over four feet. Pathetic ! In case you haven’t seen a map lately, Montauk is only 14 miles away, and here’s the rule of thumb: If Georgica’s fair, Montauk’s good. If Georgica’s good, Montauk’s great. If Georgica looks great, you’re either drunk, stoned, stupid, or all of the above. Oh gee, let’s all get max air on a close-out and call it surfing. On second thought, stay in East Hampton.

  16. Peter Says:

I saw jimmy at the jetty parking lot he just walked up after surfing he said that he heard that the dans blog was endorsing personal attacks and violence/vandalism to settle disagreements and does not want to engage. Also he thinks you’re a staffer Dans and are just trying to create a buzz on the blog to get people riled up. jimmys easy to get in contact with and very approachable., I agree with him this blogging is cheap Im outta here by the way Im in AA 50 lbs over weight, wife left me and on disability…Im no Jimmy

  17. peter Says:

    Sure, Jim. Whatever.

  18. terry livolsi Says:

    Im “jimmy”

  19. Dora Says:

    No Im Jimmy

  20. CODE MONTAUK Says:

why do people do such childish things? i had to deal with very few, and i mean very few people who did not like my website when i started it, bceause apparently i had crowded the waves in montauk with my surfing videos. what a joke! now, no one complains about my site, my videos, the dates of my videos.. nothing. everyone enjoys it, and i get emails from every part of the world you can imagine of people telling me stories of montauk in the 50’s 60’s 70’s, telling me how my videos bring back memories to them and how stoked they are to be able to watch how montauk is doing from across the world when they are away from it. I am positive Jim’s cam did this very same thing for a lot of people. who ever cut down the camera is a big time loser. there was a lot more people who enjoyed that camera than did not. you know what, if you have a complaint about the damn crowd and it bothers you so much, stay the F* outta the water!
you’ll help the crowd that way jackass, and no one wants to surf with people like you anyway!!!!!
    kook

  21. Duke Says:

Jim, stay positive man. Seriously, it’s the only way. Remember: “Your worst enemy cannot harm you as much as your own unguarded thoughts.”

And: “Develop the mind of equilibrium. You will always be getting praise and blame, but do not let either affect the poise of mind: follow the calmness, the absence of pride.” Sutta Nipata.

A camera is $8,000, but Peace, Love, and Harmony are Free.

  22. Mike Says:

$8,000 for a webcam? You have got to be kidding me. The most they go for is $1,000 and even that is pushing it.

  23. Carlos Says:

    Hi Mike,

    This was no ordinary webcam.

Just the Pan and Tilt motor head that the camera rested on costs $1,795.00

    http://www.projectwebcams.com/nanobiscuit.htm

The kind of cam Jimmy had was in the extreme high megapixel range. I think it was around 10.0 - 12.0 Megapixel..

It automatically created wide panoramic views.

Cameras of this quality can go for up to $30,000 from companies like Earthcam and others.

These cameras are strictly used for high end commercial and scientific applications involving timelapse projects, bridge building, high rise condos, coastal erosion, amongst others.

  24. Mike Says:

I stand corrected. It just seemed like an awful lot of money.

  25. chris Says:

This commented has been modified by the editor in areas that are written in italics. We don’t want to tolerate cursing in the comments section anymore. Thanks (ed)

surfers are supposed to be honest cool people that care, regardless if you like the camera or not, there is no reason to be a jerk (peter). why dont you confront jimmy in person? but i’m sure your a coward like all you grom friends that really make the jetty unfriendly, its not the camera. you give the sport a bad name and horrable vibe, shame on you.

  26. Tiger Says:

$30,000 is pocket change for jerry.
