I’ll never forget watching Perez Hilton eat meatballs out of an aluminum bag. For breakfast. He was on some food-delivery-diet, and the rules said he could eat the entire bag of food, in any order, throughout the course of the day. No more, no less. Seemed like a gimmick to me, until the gossip guru started dropping tons of weight, one delivery at a time. Since then, I’ve put more faith into the food-delivery-diet fad, even though it would never work for a control freak like me. No one is going to tell me what to eat. Not to mention, diets like the one below (just emailed by my fitness-crazed friend Brett Hoebel) limit one’s calorie intake to 1500/day. I’m passing-out from starvation just from reading it. But hey, Weight Watchers teaches: Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels. Which is a big, fat lie.
Hey guys! Many of you have asked me about Food Delivery Companies in the Hamptons for the summer. I recently started with Befana – a gourmet food delivery company – and really like it. They deliver in New York City and now in the Hamptons on the weekends. Befana’s food is by far a cut above the other delivery companies and I’ve tried everyone from Zone Chefs, NuKitchen and 5 Squares. The founders of Befana actually started the Zone delivery with Dr. Barry Sears. The meals focus on a more Mediterranean style diet with fresh fish, lots of fresh veggies and fruit as well as other foods like meat, poultry etc. Befana delivers to homes in the Hamptons on Friday night or Saturday morning – you decide which day and what time. There are 3 meals and 1 snack per delivery – they make one delivery for the weekend – they would deliver Sat & Sun’s meals on Friday night or Saturday morning. You can sign up for 1 or 2 weekend days in the Hamptons and weekdays and weekends in NYC. Befana is offering a discount for people I recommend – the discounted rates are below.
Hampton Weekend Rates:
- 45$ for 1 weekend day
- $90 for 2 weekend days ($45 / day)
- $380 for a 10-pack ($38 per day)
Ingredients:
- you can customize what you want e.g., NO gluten, NO dairy, NO starch etc.
- organic
Calories:
- 2,000 cal for men – this can be modified to be less or more
- 1,500 for women – this can be modified to be less or more

A few questions: do dieters really expect results when relying solely on the restrictive menu of a diet delivery service? And what then when the dieter gets tired of the food? And say said dieter sees the results that he/she has wanted for years, gets off the diet delivery service, and is free to eat whatever?
All I have to say about this “food-delivery-diet” is that is will be one of HUNDREDS of failure diets. In terms of the most popular diets, the “food-delivery-diet” being one of them, I have always wondered why the dieter seeks to go to extremes. NO CARBS! VEGGIES ONLY! FRUITS ONLY! NO DAIRY! NO SWEETS! And no more making of one’s own meals now that diet delivery services are available. What happened to everything in moderation? Look into diet studies, and you’ll find that moderation is the answer, while depriving, limiting, and/or restricting yourself will only lead to the breaking of rules. Go on, limit yourself to those deliveries, but does that mean you’ll stop grocery shopping? I doubt it. And does that mean, you won’t say to yourself, “oh just one [insert yummy snack] before dinner?” I doubt that too. I say, if you’re committed to your diet, take the most crucial step and inform yourself of what’s good and what’s bad to eat. And then, get off your ass, walk to the kitchen (a form of EXERCISE!) and make yourself a meal. I promise, it won’t have to take more than 15 min if you don’t want it to.
